This is a slide show of our kitchen remodel. My husband and I started this project in March of 2008 and just finished it at the end of May. We did all the work ourselves and saved a lot of money, I did the electrical, plumbing, flooring and tiling and my husband designed and made the cabinets, installed the solid surface countertops and sink put in the crown molding, etc…. and we did the rest together. I also put new flooring in the rest of the house except the bedrooms and we painted and put crown molding througout. We also put in a gas fireplace, a pocket door, new trim on all the doors and a new french door. I installed recessed lighting in our family room as well. Next we will tackle the bathroom….stay tuned.

I’m starting mine this week—-new cabinets and bathroom vanities, alder wood, doulbe faced door panels with arched tops. Samsung Staron countertops in kitchen and bathrooms with intergrated bowls. New floors and carpets in home. remove popcorn ceilings , texture and paint. Can’t wait until its done and I pop that next beer when its over. New AC/Heater system was just done. Total budget 20K. (california is expensive)

Ain’t that the truth! The kitchen was pretty hideous before.

Just getting rid of the checkered flag window sash brought-up the resale value by $9K… Nice work on the finished product. =D

We are just finishing our remodel … Very similar to yours in the fact that we tore it down to the studs. Nice job on the tile work, especially around the window!

Thanks for the compliment and yes, my husband and I did all the work. The only thing we hired out was for putting in the gas lines for the stove and fireplace and we also had a plumber come in after we stripped every thing down to the studs and had him replace all of our old galvanized pipes and replace them with copper, so he only did the rough plumbing, we did the rest.

Excellent job. Looks very nice. Did you do all the work yourself?

It’s called Meganite, it is a solid surface countertop just like Corian. Generally they have to be installed by a certified installer, but we did it ourselves, it’s not that hard.
